Cynthia S. Melzer, 64, of Valley Center, KS was called to rest on the morning of November 3, 2020. She was born on June 14, 1956 in Wichita, Kansas to Frank and Virginia (Abplanalp) DeThample. In 1976 she wed Mike Melzer. Married 44 years, they raised their 3 children: Scott, Jay and Mark. She retired after 25 years from USD 262 Valley Center working for the bus barn. She had a passion for her family, especially her two precious grandchildren Rilee and Brantley. Hobbies of hers included gardening, spending time at the lake, and crafting.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, Rick and Danny DeThample, and sister Lori Roeder.

Cynthia is survived by her husband Mike Melzer of Valley Center, her 3 sons Scott (Tracy) Melzer, Jay (Stephani) Melzer, Mark (Samantha) Melzer all of Wichita; grandchildren Rilee and Brantley Melzer; sisters Connie (Dennis) Dragatz, Lisa (David) Rea, and brother Kevin (Shelly) DeThample; along with several nieces and nephews; other family and friends.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 10, 2020 between 5pm to 7pm at Baker Funeral Home Valley Center Chapel. Service will be held Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at 11:00 am at Risen Savior Luthern Church, 6770 E 34th St N, Wichita, Kansas. Graveside following the service at Valley Center Cemetery, 9700 N. Meridian, Valley Center, Kansas.
