Obituary

Connie Sue Hodson passed away peacefully on the afternoon of Saturday, October 4, 2025, surrounded by her family and closest friends.

Connie was born in Hillsboro, Kansas, to Vernon and Gladys (McKibben) Weber on May 22, 1947. A proud life-long Wichitan, she moved with her husband to Marion Reservoir after retirement. She attended North High School, graduating in 1961.

After graduation, Connie began her career at Boeing Wichita before stepping away to raise her two sons, Brian and Brandon. She was a devoted and fiercely loving mother—someone who believed her boys could accomplish anything, and because she believed it so deeply, they did too. She raised them almost entirely on her own from a young age, stretching every dollar through sheer resourcefulness. Though money was tight, she made sure her sons never felt they went without. Birthdays and Christmas were always magical, thanks to her extra effort and big heart.

Connie was a small woman—just 5'1"—but she had a presence that filled every room. She was strong, hardworking, protective, and famously not to be trifled with. (Her nurses often commented on her iron grip, and her sons would just look at each other and laugh knowingly.) She was equal parts sweet and formidable—Mama didn't play.

In the late 1970's and 1980's, Connie worked at Micro Tec, a small but pioneering computer company, as one of its first ten employees. There, she helped build some of the earliest ⁸"luggable" computers. Later, she returned to Boeing Wichita, where she worked in the PCA area across many programs—most notably on Air Force One, for which she received multiple awards. She remained through the transition to Spirit AeroSystems and retired after many years of dedicated service.

Connie was loved by everyone who knew her—for her tireless work ethic, radiant smile, quick laugh, and unwavering love for her family. She loved camping, fishing, and anything to do with the lake. She was also an expert cake decorator known for her intricate designs, and an exceptional cook (her Bierocks were legendary). "That's what I'm talkin' 'bout," she'd often say.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Gladys Weber, and her younger brothers, Eddie and Maynard Weber.

She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Cliff Hodson; her sons, Brian Laughlin and Brandon (Crista) Laughlin; her grandchildren, Cortney, Dane (Carly), Madison, and Briona Laughlin; and one great-grandchild, Laiken Lucero. She is also survived by her sister, Janice Hardtarfer, nephews Mike, Mark, and Scott Hardtarfer, and cousin Feebie Meisinger. On Cliff's side, she is survived by his sisters, Cindy (Dick) Powell and Rana Riley, and Brother Jerry (Jill) Hodson. Connie was a beloved aunt to Chris Riley, Dustin Riley, Casey (Andy) Heramb, Tyson and Trenton Hodson. She was a proud great-aunt to Chris's children, Vann, Chayce, and Ash; Dustin's children, Kiera, Lane; and Tristan, and Casey's children, Shay and Beau. Connie is also survived by Cliff's niece and nephews, Leslie (Mueller) Powell, Shelley (Dan) Mishler, and Jamie (Joey) Kinnevan. Connie cherished her great-nieces and nephews, including Isabella Powell, Addison and Evelyn Mueller, Quintin, Kaci, Daxton, Owen, and Alivia Kinnevan.

Connie's strength, love and laughter will live on in every life she touched.
