Cleo (Slate) Long's Obituary
NEWTON, KANSAS
CLEO (SLATE) LONG , 94, beloved mom, grandma, and friend, passed away on Friday, September 14, 2018. She was born in Sophia, West Virginia to Sam Robert Slate and Polly Jane (McKinney) Slate. She met the love of her life Lawrence Dale Long and they married on October 14, 1943 in Elkton, Maryland. They moved to Newton, Kansas where they raised their family. Cleo worked for Hehr International and Hesston Corporation. She also enjoyed crocheting, beading, doing ceramics and gardening. She and her husband loved doing family research and traveling some. Her greatest joy was being with her family. Cleo is survived by her son Richard A. Long of Newton and daughter Ava Blanton of Valley Center; grandchildren Gregory Marceaux, Dustin Long, Marlin Long and Brian Walker; great grandchildren Jessica Marceaux, Victoria Marceaux and Kaden Marceaux; many other family and friends. She was preceded in death by Lawrence Long, Howard and Larry Long.
