Clarence W.
Mitchell
May 7, 1941 – January 30, 2026
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Clarence Mitchell - a beloved brother, father, and grandfather. Clarence was born May 7th of 1941 and completed his journey on January 30th of 2026 in Wichita, Kansas. In his 84 years, he shaped the lives of many with his humor, bravery, kindness, generosity and love.
Raised in Forland, Missouri, Clarence joined the workforce at an early age and always provided for his family. In adulthood, Clarence worked hard in the Wichita roofing industry for many years, eventually working for and retiring from the school board of USD 259. Even in retirement he stayed busy with handiwork, lending a hand to anyone in need, and caring for his grandchildren.
Clarence loved hunting, fishing, cowboy boots, Marilyn Monro, playing cards, wrestling, and old westerns. He was a collector of many things such as guns, pocket knives, jewelry, music, and coins. His smile was handsome and kind. He never hesitated to stand up for what was right. He never failed to make others laugh. A gallant and humble man, he was worthy of the respect of anyone lucky enough to cross his path. In his last moments, he was surrounded by many whose love for him was immeasurable - whose lives he had changed for the better.
Clarence was preceded in death by his father Emert Mitchell, mother Roxie Mitchell as well as siblings Doris Vasquez, Sue Wilks, Jerry, Bob, and Henry Mitchell and sons Terry and Donnie Mitchell.
He is survived by brothers Jacky, Rocky, and Sherlock Mitchell, sister Dorean Rogers, children William Lamm, Lena, Clarence Jr., and Jerry Mitchell as well as his grandchildren Haley, William II and Amanda Lamm, Michelle Lang, Sylvester, Terry Jr, Daniel, Rebecca, Matthew, and Samantha Mitchell.
Per his request, there will not be a formal funeral service. The family will be holding a private celebration of life. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Clarence's memory to One Tree Planted.
