Charles "
C J " Lene, Jr.
December 12, 1989 – February 27, 2025
Charles D. Lene Jr., also known as "CJ," age 35, of Wichita, Kansas, passed away on February 27, 2025. Born on December 12, 1989, to Chuck and Mindy Lene in Wichita, CJ was a loving son, brother, and uncle. He will be deeply missed by his family, including his sisters Kristi, Amber, and Amie, and his nieces and nephews: Alyssa, Kody, Hayden, Emma, Andi, Peyton, Erin, Austyn, Paisley and Asher.
CJ was preceded in death by his grandparents, Cecil and Dixie Nixon, his Aunt Jackie Nixon, Uncle Steve Nixon, Grandpa Jim Lene, and Aunt Brenda Lene.
CJ leaves behind his parents, Chuck and Mindy Lene of Wichita; his sisters: Kristi Bass of Wichita, Amber (Jamey) Kelly of Blue Springs, MO, and Amie (Tim) Ozbun of Wichita; his nieces: Alyssa Bass, Andi Ozbun, Erin Ozbun, Austyn Ozbun, Emma Kelly, and Paisley Kelly; his nephews: Kody Bass, Hayden Lene-Kimel, Peyton Kelly, and Asher Kelly; along with many other loving family members and friends.
CJ grew up surrounded by family and a passion for drag racing. He dabbled in karate, Boy Scouts, baseball, and many other activities throughout his childhood, but one of the family's fondest memories was of CJ racing his favorite car, a 1966 Chevelle. After taking it down the track three times, the car got stuck on the track during his third attempt. CJ, the only boy out of four children, often found himself the target of his sisters' teasing but always maintained his role as the baby of the family. Despite this, he was his father's long-awaited son, the boy Chuck had hoped for after three daughters.
CJ's love for the outdoors and his family was evident, especially when it came to fishing and celebrating the 4th of July. He cherished spending time with his family, lighting fireworks, and enjoying the company of his nieces and nephews. His free-spirited and independent nature showed in his stubbornness—he always did things his way. CJ was known for his big heart, and his willingness to help anyone in need, whether through his work providing security at clubs or simply being there for his family and friends. His selflessness and dedication to those he loved will always be remembered.
Service will be held 11:00 a.m., on Friday, March 7, with a 10:00 a.m. Visitation before at Baker Funeral Home Chapel, 100 S. Cedar, Valley Center, Kansas. A Graveside Service will follow at the Kechi Township Cemetery, 6523 N. Hillside, Wichita, Kansas.
