CATHERINE ANNA (KILLIAN) LONG , 96, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2019 with her family by her side.
Catherine was born May 24, 1923 on Grand Island, New York to Walter and Lillian Killian. She was the youngest of five children and the only girl. She and her brothers remained close throughout their entire lives. On December 17, 1944, she married Harvey Long. They were happily married 64 years until his death in 2009.
Catherine is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Judy Long, 3 grandchildren, Denise (Dennis) Newfer, Carol Weems, and Diane (Jereme) House. She was proud of her 7 great-grandchildren: Taylor (Rocky), Caleb, Isaac, Jorden, Leah, Tara and Luke.
Catherine lived 93 years of her life on Grand Island, NY where she enjoyed and active life alongside her husband and many close friends and family. In 2006, she along with her cousin were honored for their 83 years of membership at Trinity United Methodist Church. Three years ago she made the move to Kansas to be closer to her family. Leaving the home she and Harvey built wasn't easy, but with her positive attitude she transitioned to life in Kansas.
Catherine's gift of genuine care and kindness for people made her a treasured friend to many. She loved her family and friends deeply.
A memorial service will be held October 1 at 10- :00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, Valley Center. A memorial has been established with Trinity United Methodist Church, 2100 Whitehaven Road, Grand Island, NY 14072. Condolences may be left for the family at www.bakerfhvc.com
