Carrol Jean Hancock
passed away peacefully at the age of 61 at her home in Wichita, KS on March 19, 2016, surrounded in love. She was born in Arcata, California on September 22, 1954. Carrol graduated from Fortuna High School in 1971. She married the love of her life, Dennis E Hancock, in Winnemucca, Nevada on May 6, 1977. The family moved to Wichita in the summer of 1986 where after attending Wichita Business College for two years, Carrol began her accounting career at Brick's Men's Clothing Store and then PB Hoidale. Carrol loved to play pool and often entered in local tournaments and leagues. She was an avid reader and could sew a beautiful quilt. Carrol definitely had her work cut out for her raising four daughters. Carrol was preceded in death be her parents Louis and Audrey (Day) Crosswhite; sisters Lucy Crosswhite and Edna Pfifer; brothers John and Richard Crosswhite; parent-in-laws Raymond and Doris (Wince) Hancock. She is survived by her husband, Dennis; son Kirk (Jackie) Hancock of Ft. Worth, TX; daughters Ruby (Patrick) Thurston of Eureka, CA, Janie Wyatt of Shelton, WA, Brandi (Joshua) Cross of Valley Center, Amber (Justin) Hammes of Wichita; grandchildren Dustin and Tyler Hancock, Chase and Wyatt Thurston, Don, Kyle and Kaitlyn Davis, Audra Wyatt, Tanner Swett, Dalton and Caleigh Cross, Rileigh Hammes; great grandchildren Jadon Davis, Logan and Cason Hancock; brothers Bill (Val) Crosswhite, Ed Crosswhite; sisters Louise Price, Mary (Clarence) Wallers, Punky (Eldon) Chatman, Clara (Darrell) Gattis, Linda Dreckmann, Services will be held on Friday, March 25 at 10:00 am at Baker Funeral Home, 100 S. Cedar, Valley Center, Kansas. A private family burial will occur at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Mankato, Kansas on Saturday, March 26.
