Carol Jo (Horttor) Cowel, 85, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, August 29th, 2023. She was surrounded by her four children and husband of 64 years.

Carol was born on December 7, 1937, in Fort Scott, Kansas. She was the first born of 5 children to Ardith and Eva (Klopp) Horttor. She was a long time resident on a farm in Blue Mound, Kansas.

She was a registered nurse and retired from Northeast Nursing Home caring for those who could not care for themselves anymore. Not to set at home, she went to be a helper to the children on the school bus at Valley Center School District.

Carol is survived by her husband Delbert Cowel, daughters Pam Cowel and Debra Cowel, sons Jeff Cowel and Steve (Chris) Cowel, grandchildren Jake Cowel, Michael Lary and Mackenzie Lary, brother Deloss (Kathleen) Horttor, many other family and friends.

Services to be held at Calvary Baptist Church located at 320 N Sheridan Ave. Valley Center, Kansas on Tuesday, September 5th at 11:00 a.m.
