Bruce Edward Elliot Tompkins ⸱ Aged 69, died Tuesday, January 5th, 2021 in Wichita, Kansas. Born on February 2nd, 1951 in Wichita, Kansas. Bruce was adopted by Beverly Barnes Tompkins, who was the first person in the state of Kansas granted an adoption as a single parent. He lived in Wichita with his mother and his brother Roger Tompkins until he was four years old, when they moved to Memphis, Tennessee. At that time he began learning to play the piano, which continued through high school, when he also learned to play guitar. His admiration of Elvis and the Beatles led to long hair and many band gigs. Bruce hitchhiked across the USA playing far and near. Settling in Florida, he had three sons, and developed a love of photography.  He is survived by son Brian Tompkins and wife Nilda of New York, son Jason Tompkins of North Carolina and son Devin Tompkins, his partner Amanda Hansen, and grandson AJ of Florida. Bruce has many nieces and nephews. Bruce moved back to Wichita in May of 2014 where he and Mary Lou Rivers shared their lives together until he departed.
