Brent J.
Hanson
November 13, 2020
Surrounded by his loving family at home, Brent James Hanson passed peacefully on Friday, November 13th, 2020, after a long fight with lung cancer. He was 70.
Brent was born on February 14th, 1950, in Newton, Kansas to Charles W. Hanson and Dorothy A. Hanson. Brent's father worked as a civil engineer for the Santa Fe Railroad, and relocated the family many times throughout the southwest before ultimately settling in San Marino, California. Brent graduated from San Marino High School in 1968, and remained in California for the next 50 years focusing on raising his 4 children, always providing for his family and as a leader for several companies over his 40-year career.
For Brent, family always came first. He loved forging life-long memories by planning fun vacations throughout the country, and enjoyed taking the family to Disneyland at least once a year. After retiring in 2019, Brent and his wife Pat returned to his hometown of Newton, Kansas. His love of travel and his desire to provide afforded Brent the opportunity to visit 49 out of 50 states in his lifetime. He was passionate about competitive shooting, golfing, bowling, football, driving, and WWF wrestling.
Brent is survived by his wife Patricia Day-Hanson, and his sister Cerie Sale. He was the loving father of Kara (Chad) Hatch, Eric (Julie), Matthew, and Chelsea. He was the proud grandfather of Kaylie, Jordan (Zane), Andrea, Sydney, Trevor, Landon, Logan, and Saige. He is remembered by his niece Lindy and nephew Micah. He is further survived by many friends.
Brent will be lovingly remembered by family and friends as an adoring husband, cherished father, a charming, interesting, generous and well-read conversationalist -- the last real cowboy, who was an eventual cat-convert, and the man who could make a friend out of anyone.
Memorials may be made to the family, c/o Patricia Day-Hanson. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.brentthelastrealcowboy.com . Donations may be made to Victory in The Valley at www.victoryinthevalley.org/donations. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
