Betty J. (Palmer) Warlick, 69, passed from life to life eternal on January 1, 2013. Betty was born in Wheeler, Texas where she spent her childhood on the family farm. The Sonntag family later moved to Winfield, Kansas and continued to manage their farm where Betty lovingly tended to countless barn cats, spent her summers swimming in the horse tank, and engaged in a perpetual battle of wills with the sitting hens who would peck her hands as she gathered their eggs each day. Betty graduated from Winfield High School in 1961. A longtime resident of Wichita, Betty spent many years working in administrative support for Bank IV through its eventual conversion to Bank of America. After her retirement, Betty devoted her time to tending the meditation garden at Covenant Presbyterian Church, leading a weekly prayer group, and to enjoying her grandchildren.
Betty is survived by husband, Dale Warlick; her son and daughter-in-law, Trygve and Brandee Palmer and their children Josiah and Emma; her daughter, The Rev. Dawn Flippin and former son-in-law John Flippin, and their children Zoe and Maxwell. She is also survived by her sisters Sylvia (husband Tom) Ozbun, Lennis (husband Bill) Moore, and Nancy (husband Rex) Finley. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Arnold and Elfrieda Sonntag; husband, Raymond E. Palmer; and grandson, Spenser H. Flippin. A memorial service for Betty will be held on Friday, January 4, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Wichita.
