Swinney, Bettie Louise (Uptegrove), 82, retired nurse's aide, beloved mother, grandmother and sister, passed away on Monday, February 20, 2012. She was born in Independence, Missouri, to Samuel Albert Uptegrove and Victoria Ann (Barnett) Uptegrove. Bettie is survived by her husband, Kenneth Swinney; son, Carl Swinney of Wichita; daughter, Edna Nichols of Wichita; 5 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren; brother, Samuel Uptegrove, Jr; many family and friends. She is preceded in death by her infant son, Jess Swinney; parents, Samuel and Anna Uptegrove; twin sister, Bonnie and sisters, Anna Marie, Myrtle, and Doris. Visitation 5-7 p.m. Thursday, February 23, at Baker Funeral Home, 100 S. Cedar, Valley Center. Graveside Services 11 a.m., Friday, February 24, at Hillside Cemetery, Sedgwick, Kansas. Baker Funeral Home, Valley Center is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be left for the family at www.bakerfhvc.com
