Barbara (Bargas)
Hurlock
May 16, 2019
NEWTON, KANSAS
BARBARA LYNN (BARGAS) HURLOCK
Born August 17, 1962 in Modesto, California, Barbara Lynn Hurlock was the oldest of three children. As she grew older, her family grew larger and she became the oldest of six-all girls. Raised first in California and then Alaska throughout her childhood, Barbara would return home to California to finish her education.
Balanced efforts of hard work, focusing on her family (especially her two younger biological siblings) and an innate desire to see others happy, Barbara never backed down from a challenge that would otherwise be too great for others. A resolve to maintain a life committed so that loved ones could be healthy, safe and wise, she focused intensely on putting others first. Regardless of how significant of sacrifices must have been made, her resolve and selflessness for others was never hindered by any ulterior motives. Aspired by happiness of others, her greatest contribution in her life was her support for loved ones to succeed in their dreams and hopes.
Late in the Summer of 1993, shortly after moving to Kansas from California, Barbara would meet a man who would bring about a positive change. Yearning for a better life for her only son Daryn, she continued to focus on being a wonderful Mother while adapting to a new life. Nearly 26 years from the moment she met her husband Sam, she built her new life on a new found faith in Christ, commitment to being an admirable homemaker and growing with all who believed in her in the manner she believed in her community. Never since did she lose sight of a beautiful life we all wish to attain.
Her last act of selflessness on May 16, 2019, was being an Organ Donor. Under the care of the Midwest Transplant Network, her kidneys, corneas, ligaments and tissue were recovered so that others may have improved qualities of life. Remembered for her love for others and her willingness to see a brighter world, her organ donation is a testament to who she was and how she'll be remembered. Loved by many who she had never met, Barbara's lasting legacy is the kindness exerted by those closest to her. Often credited (and largely unknown to her) about how well she raised her only child, she will forever leave a positive impact on friends, family, neighbors, and all who've been inspired by her kindness. Compassion for all was her greatest attribute to the world.
Keeping alive her spirit is her husband Sam Hurlock of Newton, son Daryn Peabody of Phoenix, Arizona, sisters LeeAnne Bargas and Jolene Bargas both of Sacramento, California, four step daughters, a multitude of friends and even her organ recipients.
