Obituary

Elton Carruth, 92, went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 6, 2024 at home surrounded with love of family in Valley Center, Kansas.  He was born in Skedee, Oklahoma to Clarence "Jack" Carruth and Della (Drake) Carruth.  He was a lifelong resident of Valley Center where he raised his family. He attended school in the Bend and Braman Oklahoma where he was raised. After completing school he did various jobs and then he was drafted in the US Army November 1952 and was a Korean War Era Veteran. After his honorable years of service, he attended the Okmulgee trade school to become a diesel mechanic which was his lifelong profession. He worked for Groendyke Transport, Doonans, Kenworth, Richies and APAC where he worked for over 15 plus years and retired. After retirement he traveled the United States with the love of his life, his wife of 72 years Glenda Carruth. Elton enjoyed gardening, bass fishing and hunting.

Elton is survived by his spouse Glenda Carruth; children: Richard Carruth (Becky),  Cheryl Builta (Wayne), Derald Carruth (Marilyn), Becky Eagan; grandchildren: Steven Gibson (Lisa, deceased), Shane Carruth (Marci), Tara Carruth (Rick), Kelly Anderson (David), Jeri Ingram, Amanda Walsh (Steve), Erica Carter (Rusty), Jennifer Hannah,  Kenny Carruth (April), Audra Kennedy, Dewayne Kennedy (Anne) and Stephanie Forbes (Daryl); 38 Great Grandchildren, 12 Great-Great Grandchildren; brother-in-law Bob Kessler (Zola, deceased), sister Glenda Sue Starnes (Raymond), many other family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents Jack and Della Drake, his daughter Connie Joe Carruth, his granddaughter Angie Gibson, his brothers Lonnie, Glen, Everett, Dave Carruth, his sisters Leona Fowler, Louise Owens, Zola Kessler and three siblings that passed away as babies.

Graveside Service will be 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 17, at the Kechi Township Cemetery, 6523 N. Hillside, Wichita, Kansas.
