Obituary

WICHITA, KANSAS

ANTHONY 'TONY' SOMERS , 75, passed away on Tuesday, June 27, 2017. He was born in Minneapolis, Kansas to Donald Louis Somers and Audrey (Joseph) Somers. He was a graduate of North High School, Wichita, Kansas. He was from Wichita, Kansas, yet formerly from Valley Center and Sedgwick. Tony worked in law enforcement and city government as a former Valley Center Assistant Chief, Sheriff, Sedgwick Captain of Reserves, a Volunteer Firefighter for Cities of Valley Center and Sedgwick, Sedgwick City Superintendent, and was a heavy equipment supervisor. He wore many hats down through the years, yet his most prized were husband, dad, grandpa, great grandpa, brother, uncle and friend. He enjoyed his work, hunting, friends and family. Tony is survived by his wife of 55 years, Kay Somers; children Holly Somers and Brandon (Lynette) Somers; grandchildren Anthony (Lexi) Gilmartin, Kaitlyn (Cory) Hiebert and Christina Somers (Zach); great grandchildren Presley, Sailor, Addilyn and Victor; sister Beverly (Robert) Kirkpatrick; many other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his son Anthony Somers Jr., daughter Shelly, his parents Donald and Audrey Somers, brother Tim, nephew Josh (who passed exactly one year before him), nephew Mike and niece Stephanie. A Celebration of Life Visitation will be held 2:00 to 3:00 pm, Sunday, July 2 at Baker Funeral Home Valley Center. In lieu of flowers, you may designate in Tony's memory to Pancreatic Cancer Research, 1500 Rosecrans Ave Ste 200, Manhattan Beach, California 90266.
