Amy L Wiechmann passed away Feb 21, 2024, in Wichita Ks at the age of 97.  She was born Jan 3, 1927, on the family farm near Dresden KS to parents Joseph and Ella (Heilman) Krizek. Amy was joined in marriage to Karl F Wiechmann on Jan 12, 1947.  Karl and Amy settled and built their family home near Valley Center, Kansas where they were joined with the birth of daughter Aleta.

In her earlier years, Amy enjoyed her and Karl's time with Eastern Star and the Wichita Midian Shriners, traveling, gardening, home projects and dancing. Many nights Karl and Amy could be found with friends at local dances. As Aleta grew older, they often accompanied her traveling across the state while she was active in the Rainbow Girls and various school events.

Later in life, Amy continued her work as a homemaker, gardener, and was a grocery store demonstrator for over 40 years. She worked for Demonstrations Unlimited in local Dillons stores for many years and Boar's Head Provisions in Wichita and throughout Kansas.

Amy enjoyed working around the home and tending to her ever-growing flower gardens.  She would spend several hours each day working around her property fixing fence, painting and visiting and caring for the many horses that were boarded on her property over the years. When the weather was not favorable for her to be outside, she enjoyed crafting, sewing and crocheting. She was well known for her patchwork double knit blankets that she would create for her family and her ladies group charities. Amy was a strong willed and independent woman; she worked outside of the home and was still driving up until her early 90's.

Amy was a member of several women's organizations over the years but was most proud to be a 50-year member of the Valley Center Chapter #237 Order of the Eastern Star. She was also a member of the Riverview EHU and National Association of Letter Carriers Ladies Auxiliary.

She will be remembered for her love of birds and flowers as well as her knack for doing promotions, no matter the oddity of the product, as well as her Crazy Christmas tradition.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Karl Wiechmann, parents Joseph and Ella Krizek; sisters Elenora Edgett, Margaret Vacura, Sylvia Neel; brother Dale Krizek and niece Diana McCarbrey.

Amy is survived by daughter Aleta Vogt (Jim); grandchildren Matt (Denise) Vogt; Sara (Guy) Sanford; great grandchildren Rhett, Cody, Waddie, Zane, John, Ian (fiancé Kelsey), Austin, Kaleigh, and Dakota; and great-great grandchildren Braxtyn and Laikyn.

Family Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, Monday March 4, 2024 at Baker Funeral Home, Valley Center Ks.  Graveside 12:00 p.m. at White Chapel Memorial Gardens, 1806 N Oliver Wichita Ks.
