ALVIE  R.  BATES, 92 years old, retired OTR Truck Driver, passed away on October 26, 2015 in Wichita, Kansas. He was born in Alluwe, Oklahoma to Alvie Willard Bates and Helenia Sophia (Johnson) Bates. He was a graduate of Oiltown, Oklahoma. He was a Merchant Marine U.S. Navy and World War II Veteran. Alvie worked for Meadowlark for 27 years and Sta-Krisp Potato Chips. He married the love of his life Dolores Catherine Orth. He is survived by his children Barbara (Rick) Watkins of Texas, Billy (Jinny) Bates of Wichita, Jerry G. Bates of Wichita and Linda (Don) McGinty of Wichita; 13 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren 6 great great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife Dolores Bates, sons John Bates and Robert Bates.

Visitatio n 5-7 p.m., Thursday, October 29, and Service 1:00 p.m., Friday, October 30, both will be held at Baker Funeral Home Valley Center.
