WICHITA, KS Van Skiver, Alma Louise(Thornburgh), 86, was reunited with her husband and parents on Friday, September 23, 2011. She was born September 10, 1925 in Blair, Nebraska to George Carroll Thornburgh and Mary Newell (Hillman) Thornburgh. She met her husband, Raymond John, while they both attended Nebraska Wesleyan University. They were married April 2, 1944, at the home of her parents. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, granddaughter Tracy (Shutt) Brinkerhoff and great grandchildren, Misti Brinkerhoff and Alex Brinkerhoff. She is survived by her children, Janet (Gale) Cocannouer of Wichita, Nancy Van Skiver of Mt. Hope, Sandra (Wally) Shutt of Wichita, Raymond "Jack" (Margaret) VanSkiver, Jr. of Wichita; 13 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; brother, George (Marjorie) Thornburgh of Corvallis, OR; sister, Linda (Jerry) Brunk of Lincoln, NE. She graduated in home economics from Friends University and taught school in Bentley, Kansas, and at Mattewson in Wichita. She later retired from Wesley Medical Center after working for more than 30 years as a dietetic assistant. Graveside services will be held at the Blair Cemetery, Blair, Nebraska on October 1, 2011.
