Allen Lee McAllister, 82, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 27, 2014. He was born in Halstead, Kansas to Oran Allen McAllister and Mary (Mounts) McAllister. He spent his early years in the Burns – Cassoday area. After graduation from Maple Hill High School, he served in both the U.S. Army and Army reserves. He retired in 1995 after working 35 years as a lead operator in oil refining at Vicker Refinery in Potwin and Texaco Refinery in El Dorado. A man of few words, but much action, Allen enjoyed all things outdoors and was a lifelong hunter, fisherman and woodworker. He was an avid reader and talented all around handyman, always willing to help family, friends and neighbors. He had been active with the Potwin Lions Club and had served as their "Chief of Fish Catching and Frying Operations". His service to others, quiet strength and strong work ethic will forever be remembered by those who knew him. Allen is survived by his wife Corrine McAllister of the home; children Donald (Marietta) McAllister of Potwin, Ronald (Janie) McAllister of Benton, Shari (Lloyd) Smith of Wichita, David McClimans of Blue Mound and Ernestine (Gene) Frame of Wichita; grandchildren, Michael McAllister, Breanna (Jeff) Blanton, Cameron (Tess) McAllister, Derik (Kelly) Smith, Kyle Abplanalp, Ryan (Rebecca) Abplanalp, Marc (Erika) Abplanalp, Kayla Smith, Stefanie Smith, Matthew (Marissa) McClimans, Daniel (Lisa) Frame and Kathleen (Jerry) Bolt; great grandchildren Morgan Blanton, Madison Blanton, Cooper McAllister, Millicent Smith, Audrey Abplanalp, Andrea Abplanalp, Darcey Abplanalp, Sabrina Abplanalp, Zoey Abplanalp, Tristhan Romero, Wyatt Alplanalp, Molly McClimans, Camden McClimans, Nolan McClimans, Rhylin McClimans, Therin Frame, Airalyn Frame, Nicholas Bolt, Elisabeth Bolt and Thaddeus Bolt; brother Robert McAllister of Newton, sisters Marilyn King of El Dorado, Colleen Friedrich of Manhattan, June Ratts of Heyworth and Crystal Blackmore of Lawrence; many other family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents Oran and Mary McAllister, daughter Rhonda McAllister, brothers Joseph McAllister and Grover McAllister. Services 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 12 at Potwin Christian Church, Potwin, Kansas with meal following at the Potwin Community House, 201 N. Miller, Potwin, Ks. Memorials may be designated to the Potwin Lions Club, 7400 NW Ayr Rd, Potwin, Kansas 67123.
