Alfred H. Hobson, 84, of Valley Center, Kansas died of Kidney failure on December 29, 2024.

He was born in Coldwater, Kansas, in 1940 to Catherine Lefdahl and Charles Hobson. There he attended school, met the love of his life, Lavona, and started his family.They would bring in this world a daughter, Taina (married to Michael Mullen), and two sons, Brent and Michael. Together they would see many grand and great grand children, all who adored their grandpa greatly. Al was preceded in death by his Mother and Father, his stepfather Lorenzo Lefdahl, and his brother Charles Pierre Hobson. Al was devoted to his family, who today all dearly miss him.

Al worked in retail most of his life, which suited him greatly as he loved serving others. This was a basic impulse of his life, where he looked for ways to give of himself to his community, Valley Center. He did this by volunteering to drive an ambulance, serve on the planning commission, the city council, and President of the History Museum. He also served on the board of the Park City Bluegrass Festival, and ran the children's program at the Prarie Rose. He also served "Mainstreet Valley Center," taking joy in the downtown tree lighting. In 2007, he was chosen citizen of the year for Valley Center, and was recognized for all his service.

Al was a devoted Christian who cherished his Jesus Christ. His family takes great solace in knowing the Lord has Al in His care.

A service of Celebration of Al's life will be at the First Methodist Church of Valley Center, 10:00 a.m., on Saturday, January 4, 2025. Donations to First Methodist Church and the Valley Center Historical Society are encouraged.
