U.S. Veteran VALLEY CENTER, KS Peavey, Raymond Thurston, 78, retired Vocational Tech Teacher and Boeing Aircraft employee, beloved husband, dad, grandpa and brother, passed away on Tuesday, June 26, 2012. He was born in Darlington Twp, Harvey County, Kansas to Raymond Wallace Peavey and Agnes (Gillette). He served as a U.S. Army Sgt in the 159th Boat Battalion 1956-1958. He was a Building Contractor for new homes. He loved woodworking and had booths at many festivals and craft shows. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Irene; children, Sharon Latimer of Valley Center, Kevin (Lucy) Peavey of Quincy, IL, Mark (Kathy) Peavey of Wichita, Carole Peavey of Sachse, TX, Julie (Steve) Alexander of Newton, Nicolle (Mike) Bailey of Maize; grandchildren, Amber Alexander, Taylor Alexander, Zackary Alexander, Brooke Horner, Caitlin Peavey, Evan Peavey, Emily Peavey, Ezra Horton, Rebecca Bailey, Tim Herzet, Ashley Bishop and Vanessa Janzing; great grandchildren, Kayla Horner, Shelby Horner, Kane Horner and Zoey Janzing; brother, Dean Peavey of Sherman, TX; and sister, Ilene Gilmore of Seattle, WA. He is preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Agnes Peavey, and sister, Kathryn Tate. Visitation 5-7 pm, Friday, June 29, at Baker Funeral Home, Valley Center. Graveside Services 9:30 a.m., Saturday, June 30, will be held at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, 12002 W. 109th N, Bentley.In lieu of flowers, memorials to the American Heart Association.
